Sunera Faye Bakare

February 28, 1962 — September 3, 2021

On September 3, 2021, God called home His child, Sunera Faye Bakare (nee Starling.) Also known as Sunshine, Sunera was born February 28, 1962 in Davidson County to the late Reverend James Boleyjack and Dorothy Starling. She was educated in Metro Davidson County School System, graduating from Whites Creek High School in 1981. She furthered her education at Draughn’s Business College, graduating in 1984. Sunera devoted her life to a career in the healthcare field, where she worked for 38 years before retiring from Madison Healthcare Center.

Sunera joined First Street Missionary Baptist Church on Mother’s Day in 1978, under the leadership of Reverend James Armstrong. She united in holy matrimony with Hakeem Bakare, Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union was born her only son, Hakeem Olumuyiwa Bakare II (King-King), who lives to carry on her legacy along with her only daughter, Saquria Sheila (Tia) Jinks and devoted companion Wesley Jinks.

Sunera is also survived by daughter in law Danita Parker and granddaughter Amira Folasade Bakare; siblings, Marquita Yvette Starling-Cole (Oscar, deceased) , Karen Starling Elliott (Franklin), Annette Starling (Bernard), David Terrell Starling(Tamika), Sandot Joyce; aunt, Alberita Wilson Young (Thomas). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Sunera was very loving. Her caring nature led her to a career in healthcare. She had a passion for family, loved karaoke, and loved to dance. She will be missed by all who loved her, but now she is dancing in heaven.
