Thelma Jean Hastings

Thelma Jean Hastings took her flight on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. She was born July 7, 1959 in Nashville, TN to the late Annie Bell Hastings and Alferd London. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; Annie B. Hastings and Alford London; grandmother, Alberta Hanserd, brothers; Tony and Willie Earl Hastings and Jeffery and Clifford Hanserd. Thelma has gone home to a better place but never forgotten with much love.

She made her initial profession of faith in Christ as her Lord and Savior at Olivet M. B. Church under the leadership of Rev. John T. Easley and later moved her membership to Greater St. John M. B. Church under the leadership of Herbert T. Brown.

As a child Thelma loved to sing in the choir at Olivet M. B. Church and participated in numerous activities and she had a passion for drawing. The character of the life she lived might be summed up in a few words; loving, benevolent, loyal, and selfless. Even on the last day of her life she kept that beautiful smile she was known for.

Rejoicing in her life and homegoing are her children, DeCosta (Johnetta) Hastings, Quanita Hastings, Terrance Hastings and George Buchanan; sisters, Robin Hanserd and Janice Hastings; brothers, Charles Hastings and James Hanserd; grandchildren, Darrelton Hastings, Jaycee Esaw, Serenity Christmon, Jockquise, Jordan, Jamarcus, Javontez, Jalick Buchanan, Janyah Williams, Sariyah Hastings and Ari Taylor; devoted and beloved companion, Larenzo Garrett, numerous nieces and nephews.
