William Earl Laster, Sr. was born in Nashville, TN on September 26, 1939 to the union of
Johnnie B. and Laura Belle Laster He departed this life on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Nashville Center for Rehabilitation. He preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Sue Laster
William Earl was educated and graduated from Metro Nashville Davidson County Public Schools. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mamie Sue Laster, they enjoyed a number of years together and two children were born to this union, William "Tinka" Laster Jr., and Stephanie Patterson.
He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He was an active and faithful member until his health declined. He was one the children's Sunday School teachers, sung in the Senior Choir and Male Chorus, and was a part of the Men's Ministry (Men of Integrity). William Earl also served on the Historical Committee.
William Earl was employed at Laster's Cleaners as a presser and later became owner of Laster's Cleaners where he served the public for many years. He also served in janitorial work early on. His hobbies included reading the Word of God, teaching, singing, throwing horseshoes, and fishing. He also enjoyed serving others who were in need.
William loved his family and looked forward to family gatherings, especially family reunions. He also loved his Mt. Nebo Church family. He looked forward to serving in any capacity.
William Earl was preceded in death by parents Johnnie B. and Laura Belle Laster, siblings, Clarence, John Beatrice Jr., Ann Marie, Charles Edward, Laura Etta, James Warner, Harold Dean (Linda), Larry Eugene.
He leaves to cherish his memories to two devoted children, William Earl Laster, Jr. and Stephanie (Robert) Patterson, a loving grandson Jonathan Patterson and devoted granddaughter Jasmine Patterson, six great-grandchildren Jordan, Kyree, Cameron, Jada, Alana,Greyson. His devoted brother Dea. Ronald Laster and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives..
