William Charles Manlove, Jr., was born April 15, 1937 in Nashville Tennessee to the late Charles Henry Manlove and Estelle Johnson Manlove. He fell asleep in death on February 21, 2016 after an extended time of failing health.
Charles Manlove and Lillie Rose Hosley were joined together in marriage on May 14, 1961. They always wanted a large family, and they were blessed with eight children. Verdita Manlove, who was the oldest, preceded her father in death in 2008. Carlos and Jadon which were two of their sons, also passed during infancy. William Charles leaves to mourn five devoted children - Terrinita, Reginald, Tancey, Lashelra, and Chadez.
Charles was educated in the Public School System of Nashville Tennessee, and attended Tennessee State when it was affectionately call "Tennessee A & I." During his early years he was a Boy Scout and went on to serve in the U.S. Army as Sergeant in the 503rd Infantry as a Rock in Fort Bragg North Carolina. While in the service, he also performed as a paratrooper.
Charles has always been a hard worker and loved to serve people. At times, he would work up to three jobs to support his large family so that his wife would not have to work outside the home. For many years he worked as a "paper boy”, and went on to work for the Tennessean in various roles over the years, however, his passion was servicing appliances as a technician for Sears. His specialty was overhauling washing machines, and he could walk anyone through the process of troubleshooting and fixing their machine, even over the telephone. He retired from Sears after more than 25 years of service.
Charles and his wife enjoyed fishing during their leisure time, and always included their children in these outings. While he enjoyed fishing immensely, he enjoyed fishing of another kind even more. On March 9, 1975, Charles and his wife along with their daughter, Terrinita, were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses. That is when he became a fisher for men. He did this faithfully for the past 40 years. He loved talking to people about the Bible and their future hope of living in Paradise.
Charles leaves to cherish precious memories, his devoted wife, Lillie of 54 years; two sons, Reginald (Tracey), and Chadez; three daughters, Terrinita, Lashelra, and Tancey (Troy) Coleman; two granddaughters and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his four sisters, Mary Bigham, Mabel Jones, Gwendolyn (Charles) Clarke, and Carolyn Ford, all of Nashville.
Charles is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, spiritual family, and friends. He will be missed until we welcome him back in Paradise.
