Yvon (Yvonne) M. Morris was born December 17, 1947, to mother, Jan Morris, in Philadelphia, PA. She received her heavenly assignment on January 31, 2021. Yvon spent her formative years in Wilmington, Delaware being raised by first her grandmother and then her aunt. She was predeceased by her mother, grandmother, aunt and siblings, Ronald and Debbie Morris.
A veteran of the United States Army, Yvon was a proud graduate of Tennessee State University in 1971. After graduation, she was also employed by that institution and remained an avid supporter of TSU for all of her adult life. An avid sports fan, she never missed a TSU football or basketball game, often traveling with them on road, even if it meant going alone.
Yvon wore many hats throughout her lifetime. She loved music and even worked several years as a DJ with WVOL-AM and WFSK-FM radio stations. She ultimately found her niche in sound production working as an audio technician for several companies, including Opryland Productions, Fisk University, South Central Bell and Tennessee State University, before ultimately coming to First Baptist Church South Inglewood [FBSI] full time.
First Baptist Church South Inglewood was not only her employer, but also her family. There, she flourished developing deep and lasting relationships. She was appointed to the Trustees Ministry in 2018 and worked tirelessly in any number of ways. Never meeting a stranger, Yvon’s personality was big and brash. She was also the most dependable and loyal member, worker and friend you’d ever want.
She leaves to mourn her memory, brother Richard (Nancy) Morris of Wilmington, Delaware, the membership of First Baptist Church South Inglewood, the Tennessee State University Tigers and the entire city of Nashville, Tennessee.
